Abstract:
Backup makes up 30% of the IT expenditure, yet it is fraught with
issues. Rapid capacity growth, high manual intervention, low success
rate, closing backup windows, stringent service level agreements and
compliance requirements are forcing CIO's to require better visibility
to the entire backup process. Simply throwing dollars into backup and
tape automation does not fix these problems. This paper addresses the
areas a CIO needs to focus on to get a better handle of their backup
environment.
